Practising Unity

So I decided to spend a couple of hours playing about with the features we learnt on Friday's lesson. I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of world building and I'm really looking forward to learning more about creating those realistic landscapes and magic particle effects!

The purpose of this little build was just to recap some of the skills we learnt so that they embed themselves into my memory.

Anyway, here it is:

I created the cauldron in 3DS Max. It was something quick to create which allowed me to practice exporting and importing objects.

I couldn't get the texture that I applied in Max to carry over however, so I had to apply it within Unity. This is something I'll need to ask about at Uni.

I re-made some bubbles which you can just about see in the cauldron. This was to practice using alpha channels. I also creating the coal-like texture to practice texture creating again.

EDIT: Just uploaded a short video to show the Particle Effects.

First time on unity

Today at UCA it was an introduction to unity. Using some pre-build models and textures I (so far) have created this little eerie scene.

My favorite part was actually messing about with particle effects! I can't wait to work on these more. I really think it'll be fun creating magic effects and spells using these.

Here's a print screen of my scene so far. I'll do another post today if the next steps are any good.

Snowman

This was produced on my first day at University. The lesson was an introduction to 3DS Max, and we learnt several basic tools to get us started.

This was a simple task to practice what we learnt. A file was presented to us with several parts to a snowman and we had to transform the parts together, and animate them.

The whole process took me about an hour, and although basic, it covered most of the things we learnt during the lesson.
